The Asana Mat gives your daily practice a simple, dedicated foundation. Silk lies above wool, with a layer of cotton batting between them for weight and feel.

A defined surface for seated floor practice.
Cotton batting adds a light layer between the silk and wool.

How to use it

Place it on the floor with silk facing up and wool beneath. Arrange your seated practice within its dimensions. Add a suitable sitting cushion if you want elevation, or place the mat beneath your feet during chair meditation.

Made for a devotional practice

Silk and wool are used together in the meditation-seat tradition taught by Paramahansa Yogananda. Supreme Swan honors that devotional practice through its materials and making.

A few practical questions

Does the mat replace a sitting cushion?

The mat has a layer of cotton batting. A separate sitting cushion provides elevation and shaped support when you want it.

Can I use it with a chair?

Yes. Place the mat beneath your feet. For a single piece designed to cover the chair back and seat and continue to the floor, choose the longer Dhyanam chair blanket.

How should I care for it?

Follow the care label supplied with your piece. For a stain or an uncertain cleaning instruction, contact us before treating the silk or wool.

Raw dupioni silk. Pure 100% wool. Our meditation cushions, blankets, and asana mats are hand-sewn by Laura in San Diego and Neelam in Canada. These materials honor the instruction the Guru gave for the yogi’s seat.

The photograph and film shown here are from our archive: Laura at work in San Diego. Sourcing the dupioni silk, choosing pure wool, and sewing each piece takes time. The price reflects the materials and the hours it takes to make it well.
