Our Dhyanam Silk & Wool Meditation Chair Blanket is made from 100% pure Dupioni Silk from India and lined with 100% pure wool. Like our standard Silk & Wool Chair Meditation Blanket, this one is long enough to place over any chair and still have plenty of material left to lay under the feet.
These blankets are made with loving care according to Paramahansa Yogananda's instructions for meditation. Using pure silk on the upper side and 100% pure wool on the bottom, this meditation blanket will insulate the body from subtle earth currents allowing for a deeper, more still meditation.

Paramahansa Yogananda advised, "It is good to use a woolen blanket or silk cloth (or both, with the silk on top) to cover your meditation seat. Drape the cloth over the back of the chair if a chair is used, and place one end of the cloth on the floor under your feet. The cloth helps to insulate the body from subtle earth currents. Their magnetic downward pull toward material perceptions is undesirable for the meditating devotee."
Opal Blue & Ochre Brown are woven from 100% pure Dupioni Silk from India over pure wool. Purple is our classic, best-loved color in 100% pure raw silk over pure wool. Color and pattern may vary slightly, as each piece is handmade.
About Dupioni Silk
Dupioni (meaning "double") Silk is produced when two or more silkworms spin their cocoons closely together. These slightly tangled cocoons produce filament that is rough, uneven and not as strong as cultivated silk. It is usually reeled and used to make fine or heavy yarns with pronounced irregular slubs at random intervals. The irregular, crosswise ribs of Dupioni are formed by filling yarns that have occasional soft, thick lumps. The lumps, or slubs, add texture and visual interest to the fabric. This fabric is medium in weight, with a crisp, scrunchy hand, uneven texture and, generally, a very shimmery luster.

What height cushion is right for me?
As a general guide — if your knees float above your hips when seated cross-legged, choose a higher cushion. If your hips tilt forward naturally, a lower or wedge style may suit better. Contact us if you are unsure.
Can I wash the cushion cover?
The silk and wool cover should be spot cleaned only. Do not machine wash. Remove the cover carefully and allow to air dry flat away from direct sunlight.
Is the cushion suitable for chair meditation?
The wedge cushion works well on a chair — placed under the sitting bones it encourages the same forward tilt of the pelvis that supports upright posture.
How long will it last?
With daily use and proper care, several years at minimum. The inner fill can be replaced if needed — contact us and we will assist.

I had been using a series of shawls and other wool items I owned whenever I went to my local meditation center. This item greatly simplifies my meditation as it fits perfectly over the chair with plenty of length to hang on the back and lay on the floor for your feet.
Of course, the color is beautiful and made with exactly the right materials to aid in your meditation. The only suggestion I may have and maybe because I was used to sitting on a thicker blanket is the thickness of it. Maybe increase the thickness of the wool a bit.
It is easy to fold and carry. I made a carrying rope to hang over my shoulder and I wrap it around the t-arm meditation aid. It has greatly simplified what I carry around in a beautiful way.
