In San Diego there is a woman named Laura who has sewn these mats for years. In Canada, Neelam sews them too. Silk over wool, cotton between, made the way the Guru specified. They are paid properly for the work. That is most of what you pay when you buy one.
We say this so the price is understood for what it is. Not a margin, but a wage, a material, and an hour of someone's care.
And still, a price is a price, and some of you have written to say it is beyond you.
In the old way, what a student gave was measured against what the student had, and the teaching was never withheld for want of it.
We are a shop and not an ashram, and we do not pretend otherwise. But the seat is not decoration. It is where the practice happens, and it should not be the thing that stops you.
So if an asana or a blanket is out of reach, write to us. Tell us which piece, and what you are able to offer.
Whatever you are able to offer, we will be honored to provide an asana for your meditation sadhana.
Receive it and meditate on it. That would be our sincerest ask. The Guru valued the depth of a disciple's meditation above the sums given to the work.
