Our new Dhyanam, Silk & Wool Meditation Chair Blanket is made from 100% pure Dupioni Silk from India and lined with 100% pure wool. Like our standard Silk & Wool Chair Meditation Blanket, this one is long enough to place over any chair and still have plenty of material left to lay under the feet.
These blankets are made with loving care according to Paramahansa Yogananda's instructions for meditation. Using 100% pure raw silk on the upper side and 100% pure wool on the bottom, this meditation blanket will insulate the body from subtle earth currents allowing for a deeper, more still meditation.

Paramahansa Yogananda advised, "It is good to use a woolen blanket or silk cloth (or both, with the silk on top) to cover your meditation seat. Drape the cloth over the back of the chair if a chair is used, and place one end of the cloth on the floor under your feet. The cloth helps to insulate the body from subtle earth currents. Their magnetic downward pull toward material perceptions is undesirable for the meditating devotee.
Opal Blue:
The color of this blanket reminds us of the depth of blue found in opal, one of Paramahansa Yogananda's favorite gems. The royal blue seems to glow with a subtle light. There is no other color in this blanket other than the opalescent, royal blue.
Ochre Brown:
This brownish orange hue is a jewel among the earth tones. Yogis in India have worn this color since time immemorial. We were delighted to find this rare color!
About Dupioni Silk
Dupioni (meaning "double") Silk is produced when two or more silkworms spin their cocoons closely together. These slightly tangled cocoons produce filament that is rough, uneven and not as strong as cultivated silk. It is usually reeled and used to make fine or heavy yarns with pronounced irregular slubs at random intervals. Dupioni silk usually comes from cultivated, rather than wild, silkworms because their living quarters are more crowded, increasing their chances of tangling the cocoons. The irregular, crosswise ribs of Dupioni are formed by filling yarns that have occasional soft, thick lumps. The lumps, or slubs, add texture and visual interest to the fabric. This fabric is medium in weight, with a crisp, scrunchy hand, uneven texture and, generally, a very shimmery luster.
We have a small amount of these made and may not be able to get these exceptional colors again!
